In turbomachinery control applications, precise servo valve positioning is critical for safe and efficient operation. The Honeywell CC-PSV201 Servo Valve Positioner Module provides an onboard PID positioning loop to control a servo valve. It accepts LVDT/RVDT or 4-20 mA position feedback signals from the control valve and receives a remote set point from a C300-20msCEE controller. The onboard PID loop then issues a current output to the servo valve coil to control valve position.
The CC-PSV201 supports two LVDT input channels with 16-bit A/D converter resolution and an input scan rate of 2.5 mS. The LVDT excitation supply delivers 8 V RMS max at 2.5-3.2 KHz. For analog inputs, the module accepts 0 to 5 V, 1 to 5 V, 0.4 to 2 V, or 4-20 mA (through 250 Ω) signals with a scan rate of 5 ms. Hardware accuracy at 23.5°± 2°C is ± 0.075% of full scale.
The servo output channels deliver bipolar current in ranges of 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, or 320 mA, or unipolar current at 50 or 300 mA. Output resolution is 16-bit DAC with a linearity of 0.325%. Digital dither from 0-10% of full scale at 25-60 Hz compensates for stiction in the servo valve.
Two digital input channels operate with a power voltage range of 22 to 28 VDC. The ON sense voltage is 13 VDC minimum, and the OFF sense voltage is 5 VDC maximum. Input impedance is 4.6K ohms, and absolute delay across input filter and isolation is 1.78 mS.
The CC-PSV201 is designed for turbomachinery control, including steam turbines, gas turbines, and compressors. Its onboard PID loop with overall loop latency within 10 mS ensures fast, accurate valve positioning. The module supports redundant configurations for critical applications where uptime is essential. Extensive diagnostics, including open wire detection for servo, LVDT, and analog inputs, help identify field issues before they cause downtime.
When installing the CC-PSV201, ensure the field power supply is within the specified range of 22 to 28 VDC for digital inputs. For LVDT connections, configure the module for 3/4/5/6 wire feedback signals. The servo output can be configured for bipolar or unipolar current ranges based on the valve coil resistance. Use the onboard calibration feature to set the servo valve position. Always follow Honeywell’s DFS document for maximum coil resistance values.
Regular inspection of field wiring and connectors is recommended to maintain reliable operation. The module performs extensive self-diagnostics, including power supply and memory checks. Monitor diagnostic status for LVDT core fallout or open wire conditions. Periodic verification of the PID loop performance and dither settings can help extend servo valve life. For redundant systems, test switchover functionality during scheduled maintenance.
The CC-PSV201 integrates with Honeywell C300 controllers via the 20 ms CEE interface. It supports redundant configurations for high-availability systems. The module provides non-incendive field power and galvanic isolation of ±500 VDC between input terminals and common. For analog output, the module can be configured for 4-20 mA signals, while the servo output supports direct current drive to the valve coil.
Before ordering the CC-PSV201, verify compatibility with your existing C300 controller and field devices. Confirm the required current range for your servo valve and whether bipolar or unipolar output is needed. For applications requiring redundant I/O, order two modules. Contact BluePLC Industrial for current availability and lifecycle status. Our team can help you select the right configuration for your turbomachinery control system.
