When monitoring roller element bearings and detecting cavitation effects in rotating machinery, the Bently Nevada 200157-01-05 Enveloping Trendmaster Pro accelerometer delivers reliable performance. This industrial sensor is part of the Trendmaster Pro series and is manufactured in the U.S.A. It is specifically designed for applications requiring acceleration enveloping to identify early-stage bearing faults and certain cavitation phenomena. The unit comes with a 3/8-24 thread mounting stud option and includes two adhesive mount frames with adhesive for flexible installation.
The Bently Nevada 200157-01-05 features a mounted resonant frequency greater than 20 kHz (>1200 kcpm), ensuring high-frequency response for enveloping measurements. Its quiescent current is less than 800 µA, contributing to low power consumption in continuous monitoring setups. The accelerometer is used with the ProTIM option for standard acceleration-to-velocity with acceleration enveloping channel type (-06). Multiple approvals include CSA, ATEX, and IECEx, making it suitable for hazardous environments. All specifications are at +25°C (+77°F) unless otherwise noted.
Compared to standard industrial accelerometers, the Bently Nevada 200157-01-05 offers specialized enveloping capability for bearing fault detection. While many accelerometers provide basic vibration data, this model's enveloping channel type (-06) extracts bearing defect signatures from background noise. Its high resonant frequency (>20 kHz) exceeds typical general-purpose sensors, which often have resonant frequencies around 10-15 kHz. The multiple approvals (CSA, ATEX, IECEx) also distinguish it from sensors with single or no certifications, enabling use in global hazardous locations.
The primary application for the Bently Nevada 200157-01-05 is monitoring roller element bearings in pumps, motors, compressors, and turbines. The accelerometer's enveloping capability allows it to detect early bearing wear, spalling, and lubrication issues before catastrophic failure occurs. It is also effective for identifying cavitation effects in fluid-handling equipment such as centrifugal pumps and valves. In these scenarios, the sensor helps maintenance teams schedule repairs proactively, reducing unplanned downtime.
Mount the Bently Nevada 200157-01-05 using the provided 3/8-24 thread stud or the adhesive mount frames. Ensure the mounting surface is clean, flat, and free of debris to achieve optimal coupling. Apply the recommended mounting torque of 2.7 to 6.8 N·m (2 to 5 ft·lbf) for threaded installations. For adhesive mounting, allow the adhesive to cure for 24 hours before operation. Connect the accelerometer to a compatible ProTIM module using the standard acceleration-to-velocity with acceleration enveloping channel type (-06). Verify that the excitation voltage is between 4.7 and 5.5 Vdc and that the output bias voltage is +2.5 ± 0.23 Vdc.
Regularly inspect the accelerometer and its mounting for signs of loosening or corrosion. The hermetically sealed housing (316L stainless steel) provides protection against moisture and contaminants, with a maximum leak rate of 5X10⁻⁸ atm·cc/s. The sensor operates reliably from -40°C to +105°C (-40°F to +221°F) and can withstand 100% relative humidity (condensing, non-submerged). Periodic verification of the output bias voltage and sensitivity (10.2 mV/(m/s²) at 80 Hz) helps ensure consistent performance.
